Look at how myspace and facebook have grown in the last few years in the social networking environment.

When it comes to social networking online most people join free websites to share with each other.

These social networks are designed to have people post public comments to each others profile.

Social networking websites are designed to let you have the freedom to blog about anything you want to one person or to a group of people.

Many of these online community social networking members share a common bond like school, religion, hobbies, sports and politics.

Once you join a social networking website you can begin to socialize by adding your photo as your main profile and you can add all kinds of photos to albums. What is cool about this is you can see the life of some big movie star and get a look at there personal life by the photos they share.

What's common amoung all social network sites is the ability to create your profile and ability to send private messages.

What is Social Networking?

One of the many benefits to social networking are the friends that you can make online all over the world.

Another one of those benefits the internet gives individuals is the ability to communicate around the world 24 hours per day.

That means that although you may live in the United States, you could develop an online friendship with someone in England or Australia. Not only will you make a new friends from all over the world you will also learn a thing or two about a new culture.

Social networking often involves grouping specific individuals or organizations together who have common interest.

Most of the social networking websites focus on one central theme. The social networking websites let you blog on each others sites. If you don't like somebody you can block them from your site forever.

The majority of social networking sites are free to join and some will offer premium paid benefits.

This means that once you are inside this online social networking community you can begin to create your own network of friends.

There are some precautions you need to take on social networking sites.

Some of the dangers involve online predators or individuals who claim to be someone that they are not.

What is Social Networking?

I remember seeing this one myspace profile and had tons of beutiful girls on his site and was a photographer. I made a comment how nice the photos were and how she probably gets lots of dates. The person replied saying he was a man and get's alot of emails thinking he is a girl based on his profile.

So remember you could have an ex boyfriend or ex husband create a profile and ask you personal questions and ask you on a date to try to catch you so be aware that this could happen with fake profiles.

Just like when you are meeting friends at a night club, bar, party, school, or work, you need to be careful online.

You should be able to enjoy social networking online if you use common sense and just don't give out your phone number to anybody.

You can begin to search for social networking communities to join including Facebook, MySpace, FriendWise, FriendFinder, Yahoo! 360, Plenty of Fish, Orkut, Classmates and lots more.
